EDMONTON, ALBERTA – Mr. Sine Chadi, Chairman of the Board of Imperial Equities Inc. (TSX-V:IEI) (“Imperial” or the “Company”), is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Westbury has been appointed a director of Imperial Equities Inc.
Dr. Westbury’s work history, culminating in his current position as TELUS’ Chief Advisor, Capital Region Relations & Innovation since 2011, is impressive; his involvement in the community and the list of awards and honours bestowed upon him are perhaps even more so. His community activities are too numerous to list, but highlights include serving on the Citadel Theatre Board of Governors, the Capital Region United Way Campaign Cabinet, the TELUS World of Science Foundation, the Northlands Board of Governors and the Edmonton Homeless Commission. He has received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal (2002), the Alberta Centennial Medal (2005), the Alberta Star of the Millennium Volunteer Award (2005) and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). Dr. Westbury is a member of the Order of Canada (2011) and of the Alberta Order of Excellence (2012), and has been inducted into the City of Edmonton’s Community Service Hall of Fame (2011). He holds an Honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta (2007), and 84 Avenue in Edmonton was renamed Westbury Way in his honour (2010).
Dr. Westbury has earned Bachelor degrees in Arts and Education, a Graduate Diploma in Administration, a Masters of Education Degree and his PhD.
“We are extremely humbled and proud to have someone of Dr. Westbury’s calibre on the Board of Imperial,” said Sine Chadi. “Edmonton, Alberta, and indeed Canada are all the better thanks to Dr. Westbury’s long-standing and well-known advocacy for his community and its causes. His experience, energy and talent are a welcome addition to our Board.”
Dr. Westbury’s appointment has been approved by the Board of Imperial and is subject to regulatory approval.
